When I entered into the tertiary faculties of academics, I knew that somehow I wanted to be in business and I also knew that I live to move and have a deep passion for all that is the Arts.
The base of my academics started when I was 14 and my family and I decided that I would be better suited to a college than a secondary school. I then started my National Intermediate Certification with an institution called Falsebay College, which is along the Indian Ocean. This gave me the grounding for the many, many, many years of studying that followed. I decided that even though I wanted to be active in Commerce, a Batchelor of Arts was made for me, thus I pursued it tirelessly.
I realised how broad the Arts truly are. I trained in various facets thereof like Music Composition and Instrumental Executions, Dance like Contemporary, Street Freestyle and Latin, and Literature like Writing Poetry and Stories etcetera. Through the exploration of this very fascinating field, I found The Martials.
It took me back to my childhood when a family member took my niece, Shan, and I to the cinema to watch Mr Miyagi train Daniel Son and so my interest was born in The Martials. That day, Shan and I walked out of the cinema an hour or so later thoroughly convinced that we were Ninjas. We begged and begged and cried and asked our family to buy us Ninja shoes and masks, and stars, and swords. We got everything from different members except the swords; and also the stars that we got, was plastic but we still thought that it was fantastic. And it doubled up as Star Wars outfits because Shan was born on the Fourth and we therefore always believe that the Force is with us.
From there on, I took some of my spare time to learn Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Kung Fu, Aikido, Capoeira, Taekwondo, Tai Chi, Muay Thai and Krav Maga.
I have the deepest respect and gratitute for those who instilled in me the discipline that is actioned through The Martial Arts.
