I had recently conducted a Q&A on social media, and one of the questions from a follower was, “What’s your favourite place to shop and your best brands?" In answer to this, I have decided to write about my fashion preferences per season, including items and brands. Firstly, I don’t follow trends, and I tend to go for classics. This way, my clothing has longevity and relevance regardless. When I find items that I love, I buy them in every colour available. For local shopping, I enjoy the V&A Waterfront, Cavendish Square, and Canal Walk in Cape Town. In Johannesburg, the Mall of Africa and Sandton City are wonderful, and in Durban, Gateway Mall is great. All these malls have the best variety and cater well to all my needs. When I travel, I am open to exploring and always find hidden gems.

There are a few shops that are constantly at the top of my list. My all-time favourites are Guess Marciano, Zara, and Mango. These are great examples of shops that consistently have inventory that I want for both smart and casual wear. I also love Levi's, as I wear jeans often for an everyday look. I enjoy wearing boots and have a wide variety that were sourced from many different places. I only wear Nike when I train and also for exercise. For cocktail and lounge dresses, I enjoy what’s on offer at Sissy Boy as well as what Stella Morgan and Abigail Bets conjure up creatively. I prefer boutiques to any mainstream stores. Playtex is my go-to for underwear and sleepwear. They always have amazing stock that fits me like a glove.
Although I am mostly a casual dresser, I do enjoy dressing up from time-to-time. I have an array of luxury brands as part of my closet, such as Versace, Armani, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Gucci, and Dior, which I wear when I have to attend an important event or formal function.
I am a firm believer in having quality handbags, and luckily I have a few great ones to choose from. At the moment, backpacks are my everyday go-to, and I'm always reaching for either my black Louis Vuitton or pink Polo for a run around town.
In the eyewear department, I opt for Emporio Armani and Rayban found at Mullers Optometrists, or pretty much any frame from Luxottica also always works well.
My signature fragrance is Chanel Mademoiselle, and I use Dior, MAC, and Revlon for makeup.
As for jewelry, I often turn to American Swiss for my everyday pieces. I always wear earrings and have a plethora of precious options to choose from. I sometimes add a necklace, rings, and bangles for a more polished presentation. I am allergic to alloys, and therefore I can only wear pure metals like sterling silver and gold. Because of the stainless steel composition of the back of a watch, I am unable to wear one and therefore don’t own any. For the pure love of joyous jewels, Chopard, Shimansky, Cartier, Uve Koetter, and my all-time favourite, Tiffany & Co., are what keep carat craftsmanship sparkling.
Whilst filming and modeling, I am styled professionally. I am therefore not in control of that, unless it is a collaboration and I have been granted the liberty to apply my own creative flair. I went through a vintage phase not too long ago and I acquired some amazing thrift treasures from The Lux Portal. It’s fun to collect rare luxury items that I find to be aesthetically pleasing. It adds something unique and dramatic to the basics in my wardrobe.
I layer my clothing often and always have a jacket or jersey handy. I do wear traditional attire on occasion and incorporate a scarf or pashmina into most of my outfits. In the heart of summer and during a heatwave, I’m happily living in a Speedo or a bikini from either Brave Soul, Roxy or Billabong, coupled with a pair of Ipanemas or Havaianas for days on end.
Seasonally, these are my usual choices:
Spring: Jeans, Tops, Jacket, Sandals | Summer: Shorts, Tops, Dresses, Bikinis, Flip-flops
Autumn: Jeans, Tops, Jacket, Shoes | Winter: Jeans, Tops, Jersey, Jacket, Boots
I go through about 4-5 outfits a day. I have yoga in the morning, followed by business meetings and castings. In the evening, I train in the gym and after that, I do something social like a dinner before I head home and go to bed. I therefore need yoga wear, day wear, gym wear, evening wear and finally, sleep wear—every single day. This is the main reason why I dress comfortably and casually, as it enables me to easily transition from outfit to outfit.
