Last November, whilst attending classes at Yoga School, I frequented an area that I otherwise would not - as I reside on the other side of the mountain. On one trip to the village centre in Constantia, as I was about to drive out of the parking lot, another driver was driving in and started waving at me. That was odd, as I hardly knew anyone in the area besides my fellow yogis from school. I stopped my car and noticed that it was a person who I had not seen in many years. About a decade ago, we were friendly but since, had lost contact. I got out of my car and, although we had other places we both needed to be, we decided to go for a quick coffee to catchup; and that was the start of weekly meetings. Two days before the lockdown was to begin, I received a message asking whether I'd like to quarantine together. I accepted the opportunity to go through an experience, which is a complete foreign concept. The next day, 20th March 2020, I arrived at the house where we were in quarantine together. We drafted a schedule of activities that allowed for us to spend some time together and also aid us to get on with our respective personal day-to-day commitments. Here is my schedule:
00 Wake up
00 Meditate
00 Shower
00 Yoga
00 Brainstorming & Ideas Generation
00 Brunch
00 Business Meetings
00 EJBlogTV - Blogging & Administration
00 Purple Moon Yoga - Blogging & Admministration
00 Snack
00 Yoga Assignment
00 Yoga Assignment
00 Train
00 Train
00 Shower
00 Dinner
00 Netflix and chill
00 Sleep
I happily took the opportunity to start a meditative practice with Deepak Chopra and Oprah Winfrey, which I begin my day with every morning. I've also offered to be a guide through a Vinyasa Sequence at 09:00 on Tuesdays and a Yin Flow on Thursdays at 09:00. At 10:00 everyday, I’ve set aside an hour to chat about ideas and the things and persons I find to be inspiring. At 12:00, I have business meetings. On weekends, we did fun things like play games such as monopoly, dominos, cards etc. and also binged on series. We are on day 99 of the lockdown and it feels as though I have nailed this like a true quarantine queen. I am taking advantage of the free time that I otherwise almost never tend to have and I’m using it as proactively, productively and positively as I possibly can. After all, time is all we have, it is irrecoverable and the most precious commodity of all.
