I get asked about my makeup preferences often, and I am the first to confess that I am not talented in the application process. I lack the skills to transform my face by any measure, and I don't have the dramatic dream kit to create any fancy illusions. I prefer a light natural look, and my staples include a tinted moisturiser, eyeshadow, mascara, and lined lips for everyday wear. I usually match my shadow or lipstick to my outfit to create some sort of cohesion. I either choose a gold or silver shimmer on my eyes and a matte pink or nude gloss on my lips. It's a simple, easy, and quick process. For everyday wear, I opt for the Revlon range, and my weekday makeup takes about ten minutes to complete in the morning. On weekends or nights out, MAC is my go-to for a more polished look.
I hire professionals like Carl Isaacs and Make it Bright for any special occasions, as it is a waste of time for me to attempt to create anything other than my usual minimalist look. I have watched many tutorials, and I still can't do a half decent cateye. Thankfully, professionals handle shoots, events, and when I'm on set. When it comes to dinners or the odd weekend outing, I select my Dior product line and apply a more defined and polished look by using prima, concealer, a bit of contouring, and soft shaping. This takes a little more time, effort, and concentration, as the result is a glossier natural finish and a slightly sharper presentation than that of my weekday wear.
By my own admission, my ability is rather average in this department, and therefore I admire those who have the gift of being able to enhance and transform through the magic of makeup.
